Methodology for Programming
Since late 1999,
the team at Dotcom Technlogies has endeavoured
to deliver high quality Internet solutions to clients across
the world. With international markets coming in we introduce
a development methodology that would allow clients and strategic
teams to sit in one part of the world, and the delivery team
to sit in another. This development methodology has helped
us to grow in the international and Indian market in the areas
of Internet Solutions within a short span of time.
Any work we
take-up in Web related areas goes through these clearly identifiable
stages.
Phase 1: System Analysis
Based on a high-level
understanding of the solution required, DOTCOM will submit
a Project Plan that clearly states the list all the modules,
tasks and sub-tasks in the project, with an idea of the timeline
required for delivery.
This Project
Plan will also define points of approval by the client and
will be used for planning meetings for approvals and iterations.
On approval
of the Project Plan, DOTCOM will prepare an appropriate System
Analysis Sheet, which will highlight the overall client requirements
in a manner and format understandable to the client. This
sheet will contain:
The contents of each page with a large degree of detail
The database interaction
on each page if any
The client-side
manipulation required at each page if any
The server and its
details
The navigability
of the important portions
The Sheet will
be handed over to the client for a detailed analysis and sign
off, post spot-iterations if any.
On the basis
of the sign off on the sheet, the project will begin.
Phase
2: Development.
Based on the
inputs given in the sheet, DOTCOM will put teams to work on
parallel activities:
Database design
User Interface design
Usually, the
Database design is retained by DOTCOM, unless specifically
asked for by the client and is an internal deliverable for
the project.
The User Interface
design will go through the following stages of delivery:
Page Layout - 3 Layouts of the site will be given to you.
Design of the main
interfaces of the high-level modules of the solution
Design of unique,
non-standard elements in the site, if any
The User Interface
design will go through a series of approvals. First the Page
layout will be given for your approval. After approval of
the Page Layout design, the solution coding begins.
Coding will
be subject to daily internal Quality Checks to confirm quality
of delivery and adherence to client's requirement. On completion
of functionality of each module, client approvals will be
sought. This process will continue until all modules are delivered.
After delivery
of all modules, integration of all modules into a single entity
will happen and a complete quality check is done on the solution.
The integrated
solution is deployed at the test site for complete beta testing
.Any deficiencies and minor feature additions are made based
on the beta testing group feedback and the solution is ready
for delivery/uploading.
Phase
3: Delivery and Maintenance
Once the project is
ready for delivery, it is deployed in a production environment
and is opened to all user groups. At this stage the solution
is closely monitored for efficiency and performance deficiencies,
which are fixed online for a period of two weeks. This
is usually treated as final delivery by DOTCOM, and the final
invoice is raised and payments received. After the period
of close monitoring is complete, DOTCOM will move the solution
to Maintenance
Mode, where a skeletal team will be available for minor feature
additions and changes based on user feedback.

Any work we take-up in Web Designing
areas goes through these clearly identifiable stages.
1.A Systems Analysis Sheet is given
to the client where in which he has to input his information
and requirements. The client clearly mentions his preferred
colors, fonts, sites that he like and does not like etc. These
information and requirements will be kept for the designing
of the site and correspondence with the client.
2.We maintain Work specification sheet
for completing the project. This sheet is filled by the information
in the SAS. It mainly consists of the commenced date, finish
date, delivery date, events etc.
3.Once the winner is selected by the
buyer we start the work. For bids above $100 client agrees
to pay 50% of the total bill at this point.
4.Three Major layouts of the client's
website will be designed and send to the client for approval.
5.Once the client approves the design
it is send for html conversion and subsequent page design.
This point of time the client agrees to pay the next 30% of
the bill amount.
6.It is again show to the client for
approval after which it is upload to the server space allocated
for them and the next 20% is of the bill amount is given.
7.After this it is moved to the
Maintenance Mode, where a skeletal team will be available for
minor feature additions and changes based on user feedback
